Best described by NYU as “One Building. Many Purposes”, this 900,000 GSF mixed-use academic building in the heart of NYU's Greenwich Village campus includes classrooms, study spaces, dining areas, athletic facilities and residences for students and faculty. It will be home to a 350-seat proscenium theatre with a fly loft for the drama and music programs.

We are proud to be a trade partner with Turner Construction, an accomplished builder in the Higher Education sector, for the University’s newest and most complicated building. Adco provided pre-construction, BIM, procurement, pre-fabrication, construction and commissioning for all base building electrical systems for this high performance building. The project is expected to attain LEED Gold or Silver status.

The project had many stakeholders among regulatory agencies and community groups, complex logistical challenges based on a challenging location, and the added complexity of building through the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The resilience of the NYU project team is best measured in the spectacular outcome.  181 Mercer is expected to transform the NYU experience for students and faculty, as well as contribute to the surroundings at the gateway to Greenwich Village with green pedestrian walks and outdoor spaces that are vital aspects of the school’s dense urban campus. In addition to the NYU Client management team members and Turner Construction, the Project Architect is Davis Brody Bond and KieranTimberlake, BR+A Consulting Engineers provided Electrical Engineering design.  We appreciate the professionalism and are proud to be on the team.
