TWA Hotel at JFK Airport
Our client Turner Construction Company, a leader in aviation projects, built the reignited magic of Eero Saarinen’s landmark 1962 TWA Flight Center, restoring it as it was reimagined as a first-class hotel. Adco was responsible for the installation of the electrical infrastructure, natural gas powered cogeneration plant and the emergency stand-by systems that feed the TWA Flight Center as well as two new buildings on either side of the existing headhouse. Additionally, we provided the electrical infrastructure feeding the 512 hotel rooms, conference space, several restaurants, and the Aviation History Museum.
The extensive restoration of the flight center included its exterior shell, finishes, and systems. The design team included Beyer Blinder Belle, Lubrano Ciavarra Architects, PLL, Jaros Baum and Bolles, Electrical Engineer and ARUP, Structural Engineer. It is always a privilege to work on projects designed by these esteemed industry leaders.
